Draft & Sew with Cal Patch

We are really in for a treat on May 20 & 21 when Cal Patch teaches two back-to-back classes: Make a Boxy Tee/Drapey Tunic on Saturday, May 20, and Make Your Own Leggings on Sunday, May 21.

Cal Patch

Cal Patch  sews, crochets, spins, embroiders, knits, prints, makes patterns, dyes… hence the name of her clothing label: *hodge podge*. She has been teaching around the country and online for more than 20 years. Her first book, Design-It-Yourself Clothes, Patternmaking Simplified, was published by Potter Craft.

I met Cal at a dreamy sewing retreat in Maine in 2019 and we’ve been trying to get her to Make It Sew since then. She’s bringing her design and drafting prowess for a weekend of learning and making. The classes are separate though you may note that together a pair of leggings and drapey tunic make for an excellent outfit. Sign up for both and get a discount.

Previous students showing off their tops and tunics.

You will learn a lot, most notably, drafting skills to make some garments that are wardrobe staples. A Boxy Tee and Drapey Tunic differ only in fabric and style choices, so once you have this pattern you can make any top you want. And once you make your own, you seriously may never buy a pair of leggings again. But you will also gain so much by spending the day (or two) with this amazing person. Cal knows her stuff and will give you a solid education presented with understanding, patience, and a sense of humor.

When you can make custom leggings, the possibilities are endless.

It’s a special opportunity to take these classes with Cal, May 20 & 21, and we hope you will join us!
