Smocked Christmas ornament

Learn the basics of smocking while you make a beautiful ornament.

What is smocking?

Smocking is an embroidery technique used to gather fabric so that it can stretch. Before elastic, smocking was commonly used in cuffsbodices, and necklines in garments where buttons were undesirable.

No experience necessary for this beginner level class. Most students will leave with a completed ornament and better understanding of the smocking process at the end of the class.

  1. Acacia – I registered for the smocking class, but have a conflict, and will not be able to take the class this time. I am so sorry! Hope there will be another smocking class at a later time.

    Thanks – Mary Quarles
