Holding Space | Mindful Making Retreat

Holding space. We do it. Objects do it. Individuals hold space for one another, for actions, for possibility. And objects hold space for — well, you name it. The first weekend in May brings us the opportunity to to hold space with each another while we practice mindful making at a beautiful space in Rockbridge County.

Adair Hill in Rockbridge County, Virginia, provides plenty of inspiration

Katherine Ferrier, a patchwork artist from Rockland, Maine, has designed a long weekend around this theme of holding space. She has created 4 workshops for makers (no experience required; just your interest in participating), including writing, felting, stitching, and cyanotype printing.  You can read all about the retreat here.

I met Katherine at a retreat in Maine, before knowing how precious it is to have opportunities to gather like this one coming in a couple months. She is a talented creator: She makes beautiful patchwork objects, she writes wonderful poetry, and she creates unforgettable experiences. I am so grateful to collaborate with her on this event, and to share it with you.

Though the individual sessions complement each other to create a whole experience, the workshops can be taken as single classes, too. The retreat concludes with a class called Embracing the Mystery: Making a Quilt with Cyanotype Prints on Sunday—Mother’s Day. Any child/parent pairs or groups who sign up to come together will receive a discount as our gift to you. Use code MOMFULL for a $50 discount on the entire retreat, and MOMCLASS for 5% off individual classes.

Registration is open now and will close April 1. Sign up soon. Email Katherine or Accacia with questions.
